I don't work on Mondays. At least, not the job I get paid for. I get to spend the first day of the week with my two little cherubs and I do my best to make everyone special for us. Gas prices have put a crimp on our travels to far away places like the Denver Zoo or the "super cool, huge park" in Fort Collins, but we still manage to make the most of it. Today we went for an early bike ride before it got too hot. After Tressy's morning nap we went down the road three miles to Johnstown to hit the library and market. I had packed a little picnic thinking a park might be a good idea... but at almost 100 degrees, even the shade wasn't fun. So a quick phone call and we headed to the Jaksha's for lunch with Taz and Ava. We scarfed down our PB&J's and watermelon, thanked them for crashing and the company and came back for one of my favorite parts of the day-- NAPTIME!
The highlight of this Monday was meeting up with Grandma Sheila, the Bobcat and Great Grandpa Moody for a little dinner at the Double Tree in Platteville. Since Grandpa has moved to Newport, Nebraska we don't see him much. Although too short, it was a nice visit. Now that I am an official blogger, I need to get better about capturing our adventures with the camera and unfortunately, I don't have any pics of GG, as he asked to be called, and the girls.
I treasure these days more than I can describe. A promotion opportunity has come before me at work that is very intriguing. The work itself would be interesting and of course the additional money wouldn't be bad either. The trade-off-- work on Mondays. I have thought about it long and hard. Our neighbors, Joe and Emmalie, have two younguns as well. I was over there with Joe's mom, Liz, a couple weeks ago, (on a Monday, nonetheless) and I was telling her of my dilemma while the kids played in the pool. Liz has been a nurse for a long time and she said something to me that I just can't shake. She told me that in all the people she has been with before they leave this earth, no one has ever said, "I wish I would have worked more." I don't think I will give this Monday bliss up-- I just can't. One day, these Monday's will be nothing but a memory, when school comes and work once again fills 5 days of the week. Until then-- I love Mondays!
